Atelier 12 is the new legal and operational headquarters of the cultural association Arteria Mediterranea.
Young, independent, and self-financed artistic/creative space in the historic centre of Palermo
Laboratory oriented to a new human ecology, where keywords are contamination of arts, languages, cultures and methodologies of research and of artistic expression, channel of passage to convey vital flows and maintain the movement of encounter and communication between humans, whether they are inhabitants of the place or passing people.

Atelier 12 is a studio dedicated to the research and to the artistic creation, mainly, but not necessarily, in the field of performing arts. It tries to create the conditions to host creative residencies of local and international artists
In the heart of the historic center of Palermo, 5 minutes walk from the sea and from its historical street markets and architectural heritage, Atelier 12 offers the possibility of using 2 rooms equipped with professional dance floor, aerial acrobatic apparatus, mattress, crash mat , swedish wall bars gym , trx, terabend, pilates ball, workout weights and much more. Our equipment can be used in an autonomous way or supported by professionals trainer and teachers, whether for artistic residencies, technical training, research, well-being and awareness through the Movement (we promote the Feldenkrais method) and any other activity can find comfort and support in our spaces

Alongside the artistic activities promoted by the Arteria Mediterranea Association, Atelier 12 also wants to offer a cultural, creative and eco-sustainable tourism service,
an experience of living the city “tout court” (accomodation for short stays, creative approaches to free time dedicated to art, culture, and well-being, exploration of natural and marine itineraries far from mass tourism, bicycles as a daily commitment to change the approach to exploring the beauty of our historic center, thematic cultural mediations even in peripheral and hidden places of the city for an authentic immersion in the complexity and charm of it).

FREE TRAINING CONDITIONS (RIGGING AND USE OF AERIAL APPARATUS)
In the case of free/autonomous training, or private lessons, you can use only the Atelier’s aerial equipment (unless there are specific agreements)
It is not possible to use more equipment at the same time, for this reason both free trainings, private lessons and residences admit one or maximum 3 people at a time in this room
ARTISTIC RESIDENCIES CONDITIONS (RIGGING AND USE OF AERIAL APPARATUS)
It will be possible, sometimes necessary, to bring and to rig your own aerial tool independently.
In any case, the rigging take place together and under the supervision of the Atelier 12 responsible.
Safety:
-1 professional crash mat (cm 200 x 300 , thickness 40) perfect to safely learn dynamic movements, complex falls, to overcome the fear of height, to work the dynamic technique at an advanced level.

Free trainings take place by reservation per session (one session could take 1 hour and a half or 2 hours; multiple consecutive sessions can be reserved)
The private lessons with Vera Mor (or other professional guests of the Atelier 12) are built and focused to fit the individual we face taking into account his/her specific level, background, age, quality, personal needs, desires, learning times never massified. For this reason, Atelier 12 lessons can have variable duration and quantified in terms of economic compensation on hourly basis.

Our spaces are suitable for hosting artistic residencies of companies made up of individuals or two (even a trio depending on the project) and for the following artistic disciplines:
-Circus (rope, silks, hoop, static trapeze, straps, physical comedy , flying rope (used statically), acro dance, acrobalance, contortion, handstand, juggling, objets manipulation , puppets, clowns, balancing sphere, hand to hand)
-Dance and dance theater if the size of the ground room allows it
-Physical Theatre, actor studies, prose if the size of the ground room allows it
Artistic residencies at Atelier 12 are particularly appropriate for research projects.
We also have a large warehouse where you can store material, scenography and set of the company.
The ground room is also suitable to hosts:
-Seminars and lessons for small groups of Feldenkrais, Handstand, Contortion, Yoga, Acroyoga, Pilates, Holistic Disciplines, Martial Arts
-Performances or artistic research results presentations by invitation
-Meetings between audience, artists, and culturaloperators that can stimulate the audience development in the artistic/cultural sector
-Presentations of books or artistic / cultural / social projects
– Meetings, moment of sharing practises and exchanges between artists

In the case of video projections and photographic exhibitions, the technical set-up material must be brought by the proposing subject; the space offers itself, and seats, if required.
Both in the ground room and in the aerial room in the case of photo shooting on aerial equipment, you can use some of ours.
The space is characterized by an architectural charm that mixes ancient and modern, tuff walls, high roofs, black curtains and screens, in an elegant minimalism. Plants.

From the common entrance through the stairs you can access on the right to the exclusive area for our guests or companies
Along a small corridor you have your exclusive large bathroom with large shower and heating, and free towels, shower gel, shampoo and hairdryer are also provided.
Continuing you enter a loft room (19 square meters on the lower level and 16 square meters on the upper level) very bright and. peaceful with lots of plants, parquet and marble floors equipped with a table, chairs, sofas, wardrobe, chest of drawers, large mirrors, TV, mini fridge and coffee machine.
The room can accommodate up to 5 people (there are 2 double beds and 1 single bed). From the room you can independently access the terrace, our small green corner of peace.
There is no use of kitchen but on request you can eat our vegetarian/ vegan proposals in your exclusive living area in your room or on the terrace
In any case you have next to our front door on Via Alloro a bar tobacconist/ gastronomy with a terrace with tables where you can have breakfast or lunch, which also makes take-away kitchen; we are also very close to a Carrefour supermarket (1 minute walk from our door), the famous and excellent chocolate “Da Lorenzo” is just 2 steps away, and a large variety of restaurants, pizzerias and our historic and cheap street food is scattered around (we are in the historic center).
You can consume your takedowns comfortably in the table of your living area. Dishes, glasses and cutlery will be available on request and free of charge.
Atelier 12 is located in via Alloro in the heart of Kalsa, the Arab quarter of Palermo.
You are 5 minute walk from the sea, 5 from the Vucciria, 10 minutes from Ballaro’, 15 minutes from the Capo.
Not even a minute walk away, you have the beautiful Piazza Marina with its Sunday second hand and brocante market and the largest tree of Europe.
The botanical garden, enchanted oasis of the city, the largest botanical garden in Europe, is 350 meters from us.
At 8 minutes walk you have via Roma, the main road of the city from which all the main bus lines pass.
Three of the city’s landmark theatres are just a stone’s throw from us: the Teatro Garibaldi , the Teatro Biondo, the Teatro Libero.
Bike rack are available inside the atrium of our building, and also you can park your scooter there
We are just inside the zone ztl. If you arrive by car you can park for free out of the ztl, just 3 minutes walk from Atelier 12.
